Reiki is a beautiful form of energy healing
To become a Reiki practitioner, you will need about 10 to 12 hours of focus time learning. Learning at that time is easier with in-person classes because there won’t be distractions. If you choose to learn online, the time it will take you depends on how much you work on it.
Reiki practitioners are able to use Reiki to heal themselves and others without contact
Unlike a massage, Reiki doesn’t require removing clothes or touching
You can become a Reiki practitioner by only learning Reiki 1, or Reiki 2 if you want to do distance healing
If you want to continue after Reiki 1, you will need more time for learning Reiki 2 or 3 (depending on how much you want to learn)
What is a Reiki Practitioner?
A Reiki practitioner is someone that has at least graduated from Reiki 1
Reiki 1 is learning to heal in person without contact
It is the easiest version of Reiki so Reiki 1 graduates don’t know more complex concepts like Reiki Symbols
There are many benefits to getting healed by a Reiki practitioner including:
- Encouraging your body to self-heal
- Removing negative blockages in your life
- Relaxation
- Comfort
- And more
The closer your practitioner is to become a master, the more they can offer you in a session
Receiving Reiki is a very gentle way to supplement your other forms of healthcare
It isn’t recommended to depend solely on Reiki, but it can help a lot in addition to other treatments
That includes chiropractor visits
Make sure the practitioner that you choose makes you feel safe and comfortable
Not everyone is an energy match
So if you don’t feel right with a Reiki Practitioner, look for a new one
Is a Reiki Practitioner the same as a Reiki master?
A Reiki practitioner is someone that has at least completed Reiki 1
A Reiki master is someone that has completed all three Reiki levels
So your Reiki practitioner COULD be a Reiki master
But not all Reiki practitioners are Reiki masters
If you just want a healing session, you don’t really need a Reiki master
Reiki 1 teaches a lot of great healing concepts
Just like anything, the price of a Reiki session could go up if you choose someone that has completed more levels
You just need to look at what you need and decide what is best for you
What do I need to do to become a practitioner?
Becoming a Reiki practitioner is just like anything else
You need education, practice, and a graduation
In Reiki, the education is a class on one of the Reiki levels
Practice is done in class and at home
And the graduation is the attunement at the end
There are no strict guidelines for becoming a Reiki practitioner, but please don’t charge people for Reiki healing if you have not completed at least Reiki 1
There will come a time when people realize that you are not as qualified as you claim
And you will never get a chance to completely redeem your reputation if you are seen as a scammer
How much does it cost?
The cost of becoming a Reiki practitioner depends on the level that you want to complete, who you are learning from, and whether you are learning in person or online
Reiki 1 is the least expensive and it costs anywhere from $29- $400

That’s a huge range! But I can break it down more
Most prerecorded classes are $29-$300
Online live classes are $100-$400
And in-person classes are $200-$400
In-person is the best option and prerecorded is the least valuable
But as long as your teacher has done at least 3 years of distance healing, you should be fine with the prerecorded classes
You want a teacher with that experience so you can be confident that they will do your graduation attunement correctly

How long does it take?
The time really depends on what you want to put into it
Graduating Reiki 1 usually takes around 10 to 12 hours
It is encouraged to wait for at least a few months of practice before becoming a master
But all that depends on how much time you spend on each level
To move onto master level, you need at least 40 hours of Reiki healing practice and three months of working with the Reiki symbols
Your best chance of getting a time estimate is looking at what the class you chose estimates for completing the levels you are looking to complete
What can I do after becoming a practitioner?
After becoming a Reiki practitioner, you can choose to use Reiki for personal use, work at an established business, or start your own clinic
As of October 2022, the average salary of a Reiki practitioner is $97, 142
But it ranged from $22,000 to $154,000 a year

This is a hard choice right after graduation until there are no Reiki practitioners near you
Even then, there is a lot that goes into running a business
So make sure that you do your research before jumping into a huge decision like that

Reiki is life-changing for people who struggle with anxiety and depression
It can be amazing for parents that want to help their kids with stress and emotional regulation
Or dog parents that have an anxious dog
There are many reasons that you can choose to learn Reiki
And every reason is valid and important!
